Here are 3 key points for good chipping thisSpring; - Weight should be 60/40 on the left side of thebody - This helps to steepen the angle naturallyand take the ball cleanly. - Naughty right hand! - Let the left hand dominatethe stroke, using the right hand can change thespeed, loft and strike of the chip. - Short and Sweet - Make sure the backswing isn'ttoo long, this can cause a stop in acceleration,and produce a "fat" or "thinned strike. Chris C was the winner of thismonth's Felixstowe Pro event with a score of 68(-3). Nice to get the first win under the belt forthis season. John Dornan was this week'swinner of the Cystic Fibrosis competition onSunday. With a superb score of 38 points, Johnwon the competition by a single shot from thechasing pack. Congratulations John! With a large field of 85 playing, the course wasplaying long and tough, not helped by a cold northeasterly breeze. 4 Handicapper, RichardWithnall was one shot back on 37points, finishing ahead of Colin Terry,Ralf Charles and Jim Wilkinsonon count back. On Saturday, the Men's walk-on Stablefordwas won by Sean Allison with afantastic 39 points. Some really solid scoring,including 3 holes with 4 points scored on each,Sean was able to hold off SteveSheffield and Christopher Monkby a single shot and clinch victory. |
