Dave Blackmore and
Helen Tartellin returned an imposing 43 points to win the Dick Proctor Trophy last Saturday at Colchester Golf Club.
Their better ball score was enough to win the competition from three pairings all on 42 points.
Steve Parlett and
Guy Lennox were placed second after the countback with
Richard Watts and
Michael Mayes taking third spot and
Iain Cruickshank and
Shaun Holmes in fourth.
Adam Harper won the putting competition to win the Dick Proctor Putter.
On Sunday's Am-Am competition
Andy Smith, Mike Blakebrough and
Chris Carlin came home with a winning 86 points. Hard on their heels with 85 points were
Michael Mayes and
Richard Watts joined by
Robin Tucker and taking second place.
Ian Parry,
John Waterson and
David Humberstone were third with 84 points with
John Dornan,
Mike Withers and
Ian Devenish returned 80 to take fourth.
The Club held a mixed nine-hole competition, players play off half their handicap and are assumed eighteen points on the back nine holes, where
Ian Coleman (6) returned 37 points to take top spot followed in by
Lewis Barber (3) on 36. In third place was
Jill Baker (18) with 35 points.
Colchester's Club teams had a good week with the Thornton Cup Plate being held. Formatted with five home games and five away games Colchester beat Stableford Abbots comfortably 7½ to 2½. With the home games providing a clean sweep to Colchester and the away group providing the balance Colchester now play The Warren in the Quarter Final.
Also moving on to the Quarter Final stages were the Seniors who had a tough home match against Nazeing. With a final score of six to five it was close. An outstanding win by
Dick Bokenham of 8&7, along with
Stuart Ness's 5&4 and
Dave Humberstone's 6&4 sealed the match and complimented by the earlier wins of
Tom Rothery and
Peter Anderson.
John Waterson and
Jim Wilkinson contributed halves to make the much-needed six points.
The junior section progressed into the last 32 of the Royal British Legion Junior Golf Challenge beating Beadlow Manor (Bedfordshire) away by four holes,
Cai James and
Charley Hatley, along with
Louisa Storey and
Max Maynard both beating opponents two up.
The Junior Youth Shield (handicap) had a good win away at Burnham-on-Crouch by 3&2. Wins provided by
Charlie Allison, Max Day and
Oliver Baker.
The ladies Silver Shield team is having a tough time of it this year losing their second match against Stockbrook Manor.
