The ladies Stableford competition held earlier in the week was a triumph for Gill Minns whose 38 points from her seventeen handicap underlined her strong showings of late.
In a card recording just three doubles Minns was able to keep one point ahead of the ever-improving Hayley Joel who’s handicap has come down two shots in the last month.
In a strong field of over 60 ladies Beverley Parker (20) and Philippa Davies (35) both returned 36 points to fill the minor places.
Ian Parry from his seven handicap rattled in 40 points on Sundays walk-on-stableford. Recording one over par on the first nine he returned two over on the back nine which saw him clear the pack to record the victory.
Junior Oliver Baker playing off 23 carded 39 points to take second from fellow junior Arian Masud (9) who returned 37 along with Jess Woodall (8) in fourth.
The Club’s Senior team bowed out of the Essex Seniors’ Championship at the Semi-Final stage. Playing at the neutral course of Theydon-Bois they lost to a strong team from Thorndon Park.
Thorndon played good sensible golf to take the semi easily by 8½ to 2½ and go on to play Theydon-Bois in the final.
All was not gloom in the Vets camp as they claimed a victory by five matches to three in their latest friendly against Braintree, getting some satisfaction for their away defeat earlier in the year. Unfortunately they couldn't follow up that result away at Harwich & Dovercourt yesterday, click here for the full results.
