The best ladies pairing was Shelley Persent (18) and Alison Claire (24) in 5th place on 41 points, who but for a treble bogey on the seventh may well have pushed the winners off the podium. Sharing the 41 points were 4th placed Bill Eke (5) and Kevin Prince (14), 6th Sam Tarr (15) and Joe Gilzean (17), Philippa Deman (13) and Heather Dennis (20) and Bill (13) and Jasmine Schwier (26).
The Curtis Cup Chris Monk (11) and Carl White (15) took the honours in the Curtis Cup with a better-ball score of level par over the eighteen holes. Monk and White’s score of plus ten was two holes better than the three nearest chasing pairs, each with a score of plus eight. The Curtis Cup is a Par or Bogey competition, where players play match-play against the course. The competition is marked plus or minus at each hole and as a pairs better-ball players again played off 9/10th of their handicap. After the countback second pair in was the father and son pairing of Simon and Alex Rowe, playing off seven and five respectively. David Drake (18) and Mike Akin (14) were adjudged third with Jason Nicholls (1) and Ollie Baker (8) taking fourth spot.
Ladies E.G. Medal Played in abysmal conditions Tuesday’s Ladies E.G. Medal was won by Jane Lochore who put in her best round for sometime and returned a 71 nett from her 24 handicap. Second place also on 71 nett but losing out after the countback was seventeen handicapper Shelley Persent who had played better than handicap golf until a double bogey on the last dragged her back. Two players returned 72 nett with Janet Austin (20) getting the nod over Robyn Holmes (27) and with a 74 nett Lynda Freeman took fifth place on her own. |
