But the afternoon round was a different story. Both Wilson and Deman fell away to take second and third respectively and Hatley carded an impressive gross 72 to give her a total score of eight-over par. Hatley's level par front nine was then followed by three more birdies giving her a total of five birdies in one of the best rounds put in by anyone in the ladies section for some time and giving her a the well-deserved accolade of ladies champion golfer of the year.
Support Stableford In the Support Stableford over one round Gillian Whittle (28) took the honours with an incredible 47 points and the sure and certain knowledge that the five shot cut in her handicap was well deserved. Lisa Free continued her progression with a further shot cut with her return of 38 from a 44 handicap. Liz Bainbridge was third with 36 points from her 34 handicap. Her 36 points was shared with Gill Crayston (21) and Carla Holroyd (30).
Walk-on-Stableford The Walk-on-Stableford on Sunday saw five handicapper Peter Duley return 40 points. One over part front nine was blended with a level par back nine to see him safely home two shots above the peloton of four two shots behind. After the countback Jess Woodall (8) was awarded second spot with Lewis Barber (4) in third, Josh Eley (19) fourth, and one handicapper Dan Nicholls in fifth. Nicholls’ had had four birdies on his card by the eleventh but a wayward finish to his round saw three bogies eat into what was becoming another superb round over the weekend but still gave him the lowest gross on the day.
