Braiswick Cup The Braiswick Cup for 2019 went to eleven handicapper Karl Appleton. He was up against five handicapper Steve Jennings who quickly established a two-hole lead. Appleton fought back and had squared up the match by the turn. Winning the tenth and the twelfth gave Appleton the lead but in this ever see-sawing match, Jennings had levelled by the sixteenth. Appleton took the seventeenth only to see Jennings win the 18th to square up the match and drive it down the 19th. Here it ended with Appleton taking it to win the Braiswick Cup. In the Braiswick Plate Alan Sharrocks playing off one, took the first four holes against Andrew Patrick (9) and appeared to be running away with it but to Patrick’s credit, he reduced the lead to one. On the back nine Sharrocks never gave another chance, and the gap remained. A hard-fought half on the 18th secured Sharrock’s victory by one-up. |
