The Moy Cup is one of two competitions at the Club which bookend the season, the other being the Cooper-Bland Cup, both were first presented in 1910 and are the oldest in the Club and as such are wins to be cherished. Ian Parry (9) secured fifth place on his own with plus three in what was one of the strongest fields of the year with 120 players taking part. Taking up the minor placings, all on plus two, were Mike Withers (11), Keith Jacobs (10) and Alan Macnaught (6). Macnaught recently became the England Golf South East Region over 70’s Champion in a competition held at Thetford Golf Club.
Ladies Autumn Meeting The Ladies Autumn Meeting was spoilt by Tuesday’s morning rain and of the limited starters, Carla Holroyd (29) returning 32 points took top place from Penny Fairs (27) and Lisa Free (39) both carding 30 points.
Colchester Vets Colchester’s Vets have now completed their season of friendlies with a home match against Ipswich Golf Club which they won 4½ matches to 3½. The seasons tally is thirteen matches won against eleven lost with two matches halved. The Vets’ captain Kevin Prince thanked the members of the teams for all their efforts in the season and he gave a particular thanks to John Champ who handled so much of the complicated administration of these events. British Legion Seniors Club Classic The Club have reached the finals of the British Legion Seniors Club Classic. The quarter-final was played against West Herts and wins by Ed Pain, Mick Potter and Simon Rowe saw the team through to the finals which will be held at Staverton Park Golf Club in Mid-October.
Junior Stableford In a Junior Stableford Oli Baker (7) took first place with 35 points and Cody Zhou (14) on 33. Alanna Mathews (11) taking third with 32. |
