This week was Club Championship week at Colchester Golf Club. Congratulations to Cassie Cunningham on winning the ladies club championship with a super afternoon score of level par, she beat Mandy Rix into second place.  

In the Men's event, taking place in the new 2 day format, Jon Gilbert led after the opening day with a superb level par 70 round. He had a one shot lead over defending champion George Whitbread, and a further one shot lead over former 7 time champion Brendan Booth and Gary Driver. 

On day 2, George got off to a solid start, and continued to stay strong as the others fell out of contention. The one handicapper put together another solid round of 71 to take the Silver Salver trophy by 5 shots from Ben David, Brendan Booth and Jason Nicholls, all in a tie for 2nd place. 

George has just left on his new adventure to the U.S, he has received a scholarship to Murray State College in Oklahoma. We wish him all the best, and it was great to see him win before leaving. George has been a student of ours since the age of 11, and we are very proud of his achievements.

In the Nett Championship Jim Wilkinson became the champion with nett scores of 69 and 67 to win from Stuart Reed on countback. 

  



The Jubilee Cup team are through to the semi final, after beating Harwich Golf Club at the Essex. A convincing 6 ½ - 2 ½ victory gets them within one round of the final.
